Silgan Q3 2026: sales edge up 1.6% as profit slips 7.3%

Silgan's third-quarter net sales climbed 1.6% from a year earlier to $2.04B, according to a 10-Q summary published by TradingView. Net income, however, dropped 7.3% to $104.98M from $113.29M, and diluted earnings per share fell to $0.99 from $1.06.

The top line was supported by passing higher raw-material and production costs on to customers, along with a more profitable mix in custom containers. Still, lower shipment volumes, a weaker product mix in other segments, higher restructuring and corporate development expenses, and reduced manufacturing efficiency in the dispensing business pulled operating income down.

Dispensing and specialty closures grew sales by 1.3% with flat unit volumes. Metal containers posted a 1.4% sales increase even though units fell about 4%, while custom containers rose 4.2% on pricing and mix despite volumes down roughly 8%. The company also expects its proposed Trivium acquisition to close around mid-2027, subject to regulatory approvals.
