CFTC data: open interest in NYMEX gas, fuel and metals futures as of Oct 13

what happened

TradingView (ru.tradingview.com) published its regular weekly CFTC report on trader positions in futures and options, with data as of October 13, 2026. Total open interest in NYMEX natural gas reached 1,761,366 contracts, falling by 69,566 contracts over the week. Open interest in the Henry Hub futures stood at 407,502 contracts, while RBOB gasoline came in at 341,577 contracts, down 8,466 from a week earlier.

In refined products, ULSD open interest rose by 26,666 contracts to 278,003. In metals, platinum open interest was 70,934 contracts and palladium 23,942, with both rising over the week. The report also includes data on ethanol, propane and selected spreads.

Reports like this show how large market participants are positioned in energy and metals contracts. A drop in open interest in gas and gasoline points to less activity, while growth in ULSD and platinum group metals suggests new positions are being opened.
