WHP Global and G-III partner with I.T Group to grow Marc Jacobs in China

WHP Global and G-III Apparel Group have teamed up with I.T Group, a Hong Kong-founded fashion retailer, to speed up expansion of Marc Jacobs across Greater China. According to TradingView, which cited a press release, I.T Group bought the existing Marc Jacobs operations in the region and agreed a new long-term licence for the label. Reuters also reported the deal.

The agreement is the first international licence signed since WHP Global and G-III bought worldwide rights to Marc Jacobs in September 2026. I.T Group intends to open standalone stores and shop-in-shop counters, grow online sales and expand wholesale distribution on top of the brand's current retail network.

I.T Group runs more than 280 points of sale and a digital platform carrying over 400 designer, contemporary and streetwear labels. Its founder and chairman, Sham Kar Wai, says the company's long experience with international brands gives it a strong base for growth.

For G-III, handing its China operations to a regional partner with local know-how may reduce direct costs in that market while keeping licensing income. Investors may read the move as a sign that brand owners are shifting regional growth to specialist partners.
