Silvercorp's Q2 silver output falls 41% as safety works curb Ying operations

Silvercorp Metals has published production and sales figures for the second quarter of fiscal 2027, which ended September 30, 2026, according to TradingView. The Ying Mining District processed 213,320 tonnes of ore and produced 0.9 million ounces of silver and 1,371 ounces of gold. Silver equivalent output reached 1.0 million ounces, with lead at 7.6 million pounds and zinc at 0.7 million pounds. Those volumes were 41%, 34%, 42%, 41% and 51% lower than a year earlier, a decline the company links to safety system upgrades.

Revenue came in at $72.1 million, down 13%, but a realized silver price 82% higher at $61.83 per ounce and a gold price 32% higher at $3,955 per ounce cushioned the drop. Production at Ying resumed, and the operating rate stood at 90% by quarter end. Safety improvements cost about $13.4 million in the quarter.

The GC Mine has remained suspended since late June 2026 pending approval of a new mine development design. Full financial results are scheduled for release on November 5, 2026, after market close.

For precious-metals traders, the key point is a supply cut at a single silver producer, partly offset by much higher realized prices. The timing of GC's restart and the November 5 report will show how quickly volumes can recover.
