Orton: Jio Platforms is an attractive bet, Eternal's growth and margins impress

Raymond James Investment strategist Matt Orton called Jio Platforms an exciting investment opportunity. He said its growth prospects and rising free cash flow, as capital spending on 5G eases, look appealing, but its valuation relative to peers such as Bharti Airtel will be the key factor. Jio Platforms begins trading on the exchanges today, October 28.

Orton named Eternal one of the most impressive earnings stories in India this season. In his view, the company keeps growing its quick commerce and food delivery businesses while preserving margins despite intense competition, and that deserves to be rewarded.

On global markets, Orton argues that the recent sell-off in artificial intelligence stocks reflected a reset in investor positioning rather than weaker fundamentals. Semiconductor companies keep reporting record results and raising guidance even as their shares fall. He said the next key question is whether Alphabet, Microsoft and Amazon can sustain their AI spending while managing free cash flow.
