what happened

Newsmetry API reports that Keysight Technologies will stage its first multi-vendor demonstration of Link Layer Retry (LLR) interoperability with Broadcom and Alibaba Cloud. The presentation is scheduled for the OCP Global Summit in San Jose from October 12 through 15, 2026. The tests will cover 200G and 100G SerDes implementations, along with Credit-Based Flow Control (CBFC) over 100G SerDes, highlighting both technologies as potential standard, lossless transport mechanisms for Ethernet AI scale-up fabrics.

In one display, Keysight will run LLR at 1.6T over 200G SerDes between its INPT-1600GE platform and a Broadcom Tomahawk 6-based switch. The test is designed to validate frame recovery and link resilience. A second demonstration will use an Alibaba Scale-Up Ethernet switch built around the Broadcom Tomahawk Ultra ASIC, showing LLR and CBFC at 400GE over 100G SerDes and addressing hyperscaler deployment scenarios.

Asad Khamisy, Dennis Cai and Ram Periakaruppan said the joint work validates the technologies across several switch ASICs, SerDes generations and 1.6T and 400GE interfaces. Keysight also provides conformance, interoperability and performance testing for ASIC, switch, accelerator and system vendors. The demonstrations will be held at the company’s Scale-Up station, booth C83, at the San Jose Convention Center.

why it matters

The event highlights cross-vendor testing of Ethernet technologies intended for AI networks. Validation across different ASICs, SerDes rates and system configurations may help assess their readiness for broader deployment.
