what happened

New Delhi, October 12. IFCI shares climbed 8% in Monday morning trading on the BSE, reaching an intraday high of Rs.72.78. Mint reported that the stock had gained 13.7% across three sessions. Its year-to-date advance was almost 35%, while the Sensex equity benchmark had fallen 15%.

The stock reached a 52-week peak of Rs.107.45 on 4 September this year and later traded as low as Rs.46.20 on 9 December last year. IFCI was up nearly 4% in October after losing more than 23% in the preceding month.

Revenue from operations for financial year 2025-26 (FY26) increased 7% year on year to Rs.897.71 crore, while annual profit rose 18% to Rs.51.71 crore. Net interest margin improved to (-4.94)% from (-9.49)% in FY25.

Aditya Thukral, founder and analyst at AT Research and Risk Managers, said the stock’s upward structure had been broken after it breached the previous higher low. He placed fresh resistance at Rs.74–Rs.80 and pointed to a negative EMA crossover, which signals a weak short-term trend. In his view, several days above Rs.80 could alter the trend, although that outcome remains unlikely; a sustained move above the EMAs would also be needed for a reversal.

why it matters

IFCI has significantly outperformed the Sensex this year, but the analyst’s technical assessment highlights resistance after the recent advance.
