IBA Chosen to Supply 12 Cyclone KIUBE Systems for US Radiopharma Network

Belgian particle accelerator maker IBA (Ion Beam Applications), listed on Euronext, said in a press release distributed via GlobeNewswire that a large global producer and distributor of radiopharmaceuticals has chosen it as preferred supplier for expanding its American production footprint. The order covers twelve Cyclone KIUBE 300 units, which will be used to make radioisotopes for both imaging and treatment.

The machines are to form a national PET tracer production network across several US sites, with a focus on fluorine-18 output for high-volume commercial use. Each system will carry several Nirta HCFT 18F targets that use helium-free cooling, along with services covering planning of the facility, on-site setup and startup, access to the KARE portal, and training for operators and maintenance staff.

Loik-Maël Nys, president of IBA RadioPharma Solutions, said the company was pleased to be picked by one of the sector's key players and described bringing twelve high-output cyclotrons into a national network in a short timeframe as a demanding task. He said the deal is meant to widen patient access to diagnostic and therapeutic drugs.
