GrafTech posts quarterly loss and plans to close its Mexico plant

According to TradingView, GrafTech International's third-quarter 2026 net sales were $140 million, down 3% from a year earlier, mainly because of lower average realized pricing. The company posted a net loss of $47 million, or $1.76 per share. Adjusted EBITDA rose to $9 million, while adjusted free cash flow was negative $16 million.

GrafTech also announced the closure of its graphite electrode plant in Monterrey, Mexico. The company expects this to generate $20 to $25 million in annual cash cost savings, with the full benefit in 2028. Production will shift to facilities in France and Spain.

Chief Executive Timothy Flanagan said pricing has reached an inflection point and should support meaningfully higher realized prices in 2027. For the fourth quarter, the company expects a mid-single-digit percentage increase in average realized pricing compared with the third quarter.
