Ford Motor is scheduled to release its third-quarter results on Wednesday afternoon, Earnings Preview reports. Analysts polled by FactSet expect net income of $1.39 billion, down from $2.45 billion a year earlier. Adjusted earnings are seen at 41 cents a share against 45 cents, while revenue is expected to slip to $49.08 billion from $50.53 billion.

Earlier this month the automaker reported a 6.6% drop in third-quarter vehicle sales, which it linked to the phaseout of the Escape and Lincoln Corsair. Electric vehicle sales fell sharply in July and August, and late last year Ford flagged about $19.5 billion in charges tied to scaling back its EV business. The Wall Street Journal reported that Canadian aluminum exports to other countries could raise costs for American automakers. Talks on a US-Mexico trade deal have stalled, and RBC Capital Markets said a deal before year-end could be meaningful upside for Ford and GM.
