what happened
Curve Finance has put its StableSwap system live on Stellar mainnet, marking the first time the stablecoin-liquidity design has been built natively for a network outside the Ethereum Virtual Machine family. According to newsbtc.com, the Stellar Development Foundation announced the move on October 29.
The initial version lets anyone create and discover pools, swap between supported assets and provide liquidity. StableSwap targets assets priced close to one another, such as dollar stablecoins and closely linked tokenized products, and aims to lower slippage compared with a general pool over a similar price range. Stellar says the code was written for its own smart-contract environment instead of running behind an Ethereum-compatible layer.
The publisher also notes that FXSwap, a design for assets whose relative prices move, will come to Stellar only after an audit, so it should not be treated as available now. Liquidity providers deposit eligible tokens, and risks include smart-contract faults, depegs and thin liquidity.
why it matters
For a network built around payments and tokenized assets, cheaper conversion between stablecoins could become a base layer for other services. Still, a launch only shows the infrastructure exists; pool depth, real trading volume and realised slippage will reveal whether a competitive market forms.
