what happened
American Resources Corporation and its linked company ReElement Technologies have signed a new accord with Uzbekistan's state metals complex and a national investment fund, according to ACCESS Newswire.
The deal was signed on October 19 in Samarkand, during a US-Uzbek business forum. It takes the understandings reached in the November 2025 memorandum into a commercial demonstration phase.
ReElement has already shown it can convert Uzbek tungsten into high-purity oxide. Next, the material will be tested at the company's US plants, and a possible refining plant in Uzbekistan will be studied. A joint working group of the four parties will coordinate the technical and economic assessments.
why it matters
Tungsten is produced and refined in only a few countries, so makers of defense, aerospace and electronics products watch for alternative processing capacity. The project is still at the evaluation stage, with no volumes or financial terms disclosed, so its impact on the metal market is limited for now.
